Introduction
We have been to Bee County courthouse, twice for photography. The first time was on a weekend day when the courthouse was closed, but, this makes for an awesome circumstance for photographing outside. All of the parking lots are virtually empty, there is little to no foot traffic. The second time we visited was during the week and we were able to tour and photograph the inside.
History of Bee County Courthouses
The first courthouse built at this particular site was a wood building constructed in 1879. This more permanent courthouse was constructed in 1912. Even though it was extensively remodeled in the 1940s and restored in 2006, this is the only non wood structure that has served the people of Bee County, Texas as a courthouse. We aren’t going to delve too deeply into history, our intentions are simply to show the courthouse and pay homage to the craftsmen of long ago, as well as, those that participated in the remodel and restoration work. I think we can all agree that this is a gorgeous courthouse in its present state. Photographs contained on this page are our tribute to all of the artisans involved, as well as a document of the things we have seen.
Rialto Theater
There were signs stating that restoration was going to happen to the Rialto Theater. I hope the next time we are in town we can see the inside of the theater!! And hoping, sincerely, they keep the old barber shop!! What a treat to see! We will go back to Bee County, again and as we find more stuff we will append this page. Thank you so much for looking!
