Introduction to Duval County
Duval County Texas was founded in 1858 and became organized in 1876. The County is named for Burr H. Duval, a soldier in the Texas Revolution who was killed in the Goliad Massacre.
Duval County is quite rural and somewhat sparsely populated. Subsequently, there aren’t a lot of things to do and see, as a tourist. There is just enough to actually have a nice day trip through the county.

Pictures of the 1916 Duval County Courthouse
The current courthouse in Duval County is the second courthouse, built in 1916, and located in San Diego, Texas. It has had one addition in 1935 and at least one remodel or addition for the district courtroom in 1999.
So glad we had the opportunity to photograph the courthouse in 2014. Sometime between 2014 and 2019 they removed the old fire escape that had adorned the front of the building from day one.
