Introduction to Lipscomb County
Lipscomb County Texas was created in 1876 and organized in 1887. It is named for Judge Abner Smith Lipscomb, the secretary of state of the Republic of Texas. The county seat is the town of Lipscomb.
The County Seat, Lipscomb, is a small quiet town with several historic buildings lining the streets near the courthouse. We have been there, twice. Both times passing through to points north and have spent a few hours exploring.

Pictures of the Lipscomb County Courthouse of 1917
The current Lipscomb County Courthouse is the second used since the county was formed, the first being a small wood frame structure. We were treated to a tour by the county judge in 2015, clearly after some restoration work.
