Live Oak County – Introduction
Live Oak County Texas is Named for Groves of Live Oak Trees within the county area. The County Seat is the town George West. Live Oak County was formed from San Patricio and Nueces counties on Febuary 2, 1856 with Oakville designated as it’s original county seat. The center of county government moved from Oakville to George West in 1918.
