Introduction to Willacy County Texas
Willacy county was organized in 1911. Originally it included what is now Kenedy County and the County Seat was Sarita. Willacy county was reorganized in 1921 and the county seat was moved to Raymondville. The county is named for state senator John G. Willacy.

The current Willacy County Courthouse was originally erected in 1922. The Courthouse was restored in 2016.
